|Volume 1 “Ride the Wave”!
The Freisenbruch-Meyer Group is delighted to present this collection of 20 tracks to raise funds for the Coalition for the Protection of Children and to promote Bermuda’s musical talent. We sincerely hope that the public will ‘get behind’ this project and make it a success for the benefit of Bermuda’s children and the Island’s music fraternity.
I have worked very closely with Tony Brannon during the past six months to make this production a reality. Tony’s experience and reputation on the Bermuda entertainment scene has provided access to the Island’s musicians and his energy and enthusiasm has brought this exciting project ‘to life’.
Very early on Tony and I discussed the creative concept of ‘blending’ a music project with the outreach of ‘traditional business’ – and the idea was born! He suggested approaching Bermuda’s songwriters and musicians to compile their music in a rarely heard before format. The response was simply amazing with over 50 songs submitted and, with that, the challenge of “which ones do we choose?” Needless to say, from this abundance of material we chose 20 songs for inclusion here with the knowledge of having ample material for Volume 2, as long as Bermuda residents and visitors support this project.
We really hope you will enjoy this collection of diverse, contemporary songs. Thank you for your support which will exclusively benefit our Island’s children and musicians alike!

Mikey Wild, singer/songwriter and recording artist, has been in and around music his entire life. He has been influenced by all styles of music, but his love for reggae continues to drive him. Since the early 80s, Mikey Wild has opened up for numerous acts ranging from Gregory Issacs, Ziggy Marley, the Wailers, Yellowman, Admiral Bailey, Luciano & Mikey General, Shaggy to T.L.C. Busta Rhymes, Naughty by Nature, Snow....the list goes on and on! He strives to continue making original songs with a crossover effect to please a wider range of audiences. “Right Away” was arranged, recorded, written and produced in Bermuda. Special thanks goes from Mikey to all who have been involved on his journey and to those who
love the music!
Mishka was born in Bermuda, and raised on a 40-foot sailing vessel built by his parents, who wanted to fulfill a lifelong dream of raising their young family by the ocean. Inspired by his rich, natural surroundings and the righteous spirit permeating the Caribbean Islands, Mishka devoted himself to writing and performing, connecting with people through his essence and the intimacy of his music. His lyrics speak to his engaging perspective on life, distrust of authority, distaste of corruption, and faith in love and in our world’s people.
Bermuda born Collie Buddz has contributed “Holiday” to Ride the Wave. A consummate live performer who has thrilled Bermuda and international audiences, Collie continues to push the boundaries. He collaborated on “Holiday” with his brother Matthew Harper and recorded the song at his Bermuda Studio. Collie has taken the reggae world by storm. Collie Buddz has been nominated for Top International Artist of the Year!
Heather, like her brother Mishka, grew up in Bermuda and the Caribbean on the family built boat. She began singing and songwriting at an early age, and went to London in her early 20s to pursue her career. Since then she has released 8 studio albums and many live recordings on major record labels internationally and has toured the world many times over. She is known for her strong live performances, her emotive songs and her ethereal vocals. She says of her songs “They are always a search for truth..... a desire to share my perspective of what it is to be human; the beauty and the pain and the mystery of it all.” We are delighted that Heather contributed “Motherland” (a song written after the birth of her son) from her album “Redbird”, for Ride the Wave.
NO WOMAN NO CRY
Stefan Hinds, Lauretta Hinds & Rupert Hinds form the trio HindSight, a family affair of veteran entertainers on the local and international circuit. HindSight and their alter ego “Exotique” have played every local venue and toured the world, from Alaska to New Zealand and all points in between. Performing since the twins were 11 years old and Lauretta was 8...expertise, experience and excellence are the hallmarks of this inimitable Trio. “Music washes from the soul, the dust of everyday life”.
Tony B & The Rainbow Valley Kids
UNDER THE SUN
So much happened with this song! A truly huge Bermuda contingent helped out on this including Michael Spencer-Arscott with arrangements and programming. Andy Newmark played drums. The Love Alive Ministries Choir sang the chorus at the end of the song. Paul Muggleton (who had the first ever rock band in Bermuda The Savages) helped edit the song. The Rainbow Valley Kids are Alec & Zak Muggleton, Tallulah Tzuke and Magali Sandiford. Tamara Marshall from Barbados helped with background vocals and both Will Lee and Felix Krish played bass in different parts of the song. Under the Sun was recorded in Bermuda, Barbados and Weybridge, UK and mixed at Paul Muggleton & Judie Tzuke’s studio by Matt Tait. This is a unity song, and Bermuda, like many places, needs to feel and share the love! “And in this skin, we all live in, we’ll be as one, Under the Sun”.
Secret Po-Po is a band of four young guys all aged 16 years. They are Matt Witkowsi (lead guitar & singer) Harry Dunkley (drums) Mike Mello (bass) and Matt Ross (keys & trumpet). Between them they have over 30 years of music lessons and playing behind them. These young guys have a lot of promise ahead and we hope to see them again on another Bermuda Music compilation.

John Amaral, Khari Thornhill and Craig Simons had a vision and a dream when they began producing and then recording music at their home studio. That dream is now a reality as their songs have been heard all over the world. “There is no specific label as to what we sound like. The Foundation of our sound is a true blend of Hip Hop and Reggae. We often find that we will mix elements of Electronica, Rock, Classical and even a sprinkle of Country. We hope you find it unique and enjoy!!” “When It Rains” was arranged, producd and recorded in Bermuda under their production and recording label “i-vibez”.

BLOWIN’ AGAINST THE WIND
MAGMA (formerly known as Mango Seed) – Magma (Adam Mayo) was born in Bermuda where his love of reggae took hold. As a singer, songwriter & recording artist, his music has a unique sound which is very instinctive, organic and comes from the heart. After living in London for many years, he is currently living in Jamaica where he continues to perform live shows and work in the studio. Recently recorded, “Blowin Against The Wind” is part of a compilation album “Prophet Riddim”, produced by Downsound Records. There, Magma shows that he is a true-believing, fire-breathing standard bearer for 21st century reggae music that opens a direct channel of memory to a gentler time for reggae music. Also featured on that compilation are such greats as Sizzla, Capleton, Anthony B, Natural Black, George Nooks, Harry Toddler and One Third.
Shrika Minors aka Sweet Sess is a born Bermudian blessed with a god given talent to sing. With no formal training she managed to capture the interest of many overseas producers. She has been featured on a number of reggae compilations that have been distributed around the globe. Sweet Sess has been performing on the Island for many years alongside many legends in the reggae business. “Far Away” is a cover song originally done by Kindred and The Family Soul. The instrumental was produced in Germany and Sess has given the track her own distinctive feel and flair. Sit back, relax and let Sweet Sess take you far away from any troubles you may have.
Troy Anthony was born in the little island of Bermuda where his love for reggae music began to develop at the age of ten. He started out around the house listening to old greats like Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Third World, and many others. When asked why reggae stood out to him, he replied, “reggae is the only music that I could relate to that reflects my island roots, and in my opinion, the only music that has such powerful heartfelt messages to complement the rough but sweet sound.” At the age of eighteen, his love for singing began to grow as he would practice often, experimenting with different vocal ranges and styles. At the age of 21, Troy Anthony had an experience that would change his life forever. On the night of his twenty-first birthday, he and some friends were in a terrible car crash that would claim the life of a close friend who was also celebrating his birthday that night. This tragic event pushed the ambitious singer to start writing songs expressing his inner thoughts with conscious lyrics. He went a step further and began recording and getting air play on the local stations and was approached by the Island’s top promoter who asked him to open a few shows featuring artists like Luciano, Morgan Heritage, Sizzla, Anthony B., and Mikey General to name a few. This experience inspired him and he knew it was his place to be a reggae artist. But still trying to cope with the death of his friend the singer began seeking answers to questions that only God could solve. In January of 1999, his questions were answered in a little church on the same street that claimed his friend’s life. Now a Christian husband and father of two, he is today more determined than ever to bring to the people good music with a strong message of encouragement, truth, love, and enlightenment.
Her home is the exotic island of Bermuda but her talent knows no boundaries. Her name is Gita - a petite contralto whose raw stylized singing is a welcome departure from today’s studio productions. Gita pledges an allegiance to a fusion of jazz and R&B music about life and love, with an appeal that crosses over genres and generations. “I would like to have the authenticity of my spirit be captured through my music,” she says. “I want to touch the world!”. She draws from a variety of truly talented influences, which are reflected in her developed stage presence, vocal control, and versatility. These influences, a combination of traditional jazz singers and contemporary stylists include the legendary Sarah Vaughn, Nancy Wilson, Shirley Horn, Gladys Knight, Sade and Barbara Streisand.
